The White House Just Got Asked If Trump Made A Harvey Donation. Their Answer Is Telling

- Agustus 30, 2017

In the aftermath of what the FEMA Director has called the “worst disaster in the state’s history,” Jennifer Jacobs, the White House reporter for Bloomberg News, asked White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee-Sanders if Trump had made a personal donation to the Hurricane Harvey relief efforts.

In case there is any confusion, “looking into options” is shorthand for an unequivocal “no.”

Since the Category 4 hurricane made landfall five days ago, a slew of charities have begun collecting money for the relief effort. Former President Barack Obama tweeted several days ago suggesting that Americans donate to the American Red Cross, and included a link with directions to do so in his tweet.

While Trump has relished his role as a “leader” during this natural disaster, he has yet to make any substantive impact, opting instead to brag about his crowd size in a “speech” to spectators, rather than meet with a single disaster victim. Obama, for his part, was quick to visit with victims of Hurricane Sandy in 2012. And George W. Bush did the same with victims of Hurricane Katrina in 2005.

Despite the fact that Trump has been quick to leverage his position as President to further enrich himself and the Trump Organization, he has done absolutely nothing with his self-proclaimed fortune to help Americans in need. He might willingly take their votes and applause, but don’t expect him to give back any time soon.
